Adi previously played four seasons for Porter’s Portland Timbers teams, scoring 51 goals in 112 MLS appearances before Porter and the Timbers mutually parted ways following the 2017 season.
Adi departed midway through the following capaign as he became FC Cincinnati‘s first-ever signing, but had a difficult year on and off the field for Cincy. He was waived last week.
The Crew have proven MLS striker and US national team regular Gyasi Zardes on their books, but at the very least Adi would offer some proven depth for an attack that only scored 39 goals in 2019, the third-lowest total in MLS.
