Ranking the top NFL Draft prospects who will be on display in the National Championship Game between LSU and Clemson, including Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence who figure to be the next two No. 1 overall picks.
LSU and Clemson are set to take the field on Monday night for what should be an excellent National Championship Game and there will be plenty of NFL talent on display. While it will be a great game with either LSU winning their first title since 2007 or Clemson winning their third in four years and entering the dynasty conversation, there is plenty of intrigue when it comes to the NFL Draft too.
In fact, the next two No. 1 draft picks figure to be the two starting quarterbacks in this game and that’s where we’ll start with the top draft prospects on display with Heisman winner, Joe Burrow, who is expected to be the top pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in April.
1. Joe Burrow, LSU quarterback
Here we have the obvious prospect to keep an eye out for in the title game. Burrow has enjoyed an amazing ride all season long and added a Heisman Trophy along with getting the LSU Tigers to the National Championship. He’s thrown for 5,208 yards, 55 touchdowns, and just six picks through 14 games, along with a whopping 77.6 completion percentage.
When it comes to his abilities as a prospect, Burrow has been outstanding. He doesn’t have the greatest arm strength, but his placement and accuracy have been money all season long, especially on deep balls down the field. He’s been excellent at avoiding pressure and maneuvering around the pocket and can make plays on the run and keep that fantastic accuracy.
Handling pressure will be key for Burrow in the title game. Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables is known to blitz a lot. Burrow will need to make quick decisions and continue his pocket mastery to keep LSU in the game and sustain drives. It will be a treat to watch one more game from Burrow.
