Reports: DC United in “advanced talks” on transfer for Morelia winger Edison Flores
TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Reports
D.C. United are working to seal a deal to acquire Peruvian winger Edison Flores from Mexican club Monarcas Morelia, multiple news outlets reported late Thursday night.
This deal for Edison Flores is not yet done, despite reports stating otherwise. Source familiar with the potential deal tells me the club is in talks to acquire Flores, and has ongoing talks in regards to a pair of other players as well. More in the AM.

The Athletic, The Washington Post, ESPN and MedioTiempo were among those producing reports of the negotiations, which are described as “advanced talks” and would likely involve a hefty transfer fee and salary given Flores’ age, productivity and lengthy current contract with Morelia.
Flores, 25, was a key member of the Monarcas side that finished seventh in the just-completed 2019 Liga MX Apertura and advanced to the Liguilla (playoffs) semifinals. A quick, elusive attacker who can create from both wide and central areas, he’s also been a regular in the Peru national team, scoring 13 goals for Los Incas, logging heavy minutes during the 2018 World Cup and helping them reach the final of the 2019 Copa America.
Can confirm that DC United is in advanced talks with Morelia to sign Peruvian international Edison Flores. Deal not finalized as yet. #ligamxeng #MLS #DCU

Having lost Lucho Acosta, Lucas Rodriguez and Wayne Rooney from last year’s squad, United are in need of attacking reinforcements for the season ahead and have recently been connected to a flurry of potential signings from abroad, including Santos Laguna’s Brian Lozano, Venezuelan striker Gelmin Rivas and Ecuadoran playmaker Christian Aleman.
